July 14, 1789: Citizens of Paris stormed the Bastille, which was the medieval fortress and symbol of royal authority. A key point in the French Revolution, these days Bastille Day is La Fête Nationale and all the museums in Paris are free (amongst other celebrations).
The History Collective
The History Collective was founded by Jason Sager (PhD) and Gwenith Cross to provide an online community for historians to network and share research interests. Members are invited to contribute relevant posts on their own research, history in the media, book reviews (academic or historical fiction), and videos or podcasts on historical studies.
